The youth driver training program was sponsored by the Circular Head Council and supported by Tasmanian Police who sent an officer along to provide additional value to the program.
The program was free for all drivers under 25 in the region however the initial take up was slow – with many young drivers still nervous about what the program was about.
“Offering this program to young drivers is a huge step towards creating safer drivers, roads and a safer community. With plenty of nasty incidents and crashes in the region it was great to have the support of the Circular Head Council and Tas Police. Even though we only had a small group of drivers attend we are confident that the word will spread and more drivers will sign up for future programs” said Performance Driving Australia director Mark Butcher.
The council is hoping to secure some funding to assist running additional programs and Performance Driving Australia are happy to provide this training at a heavily discounted rate for any other groups interested in partnering to host young driver programs.
