Team PDA driver Mark Butcher and navigator Warren Phillip-Clarke are set to return to the forest at the 2019 Subaru Rally Tasmania.
The event includes a round of the Asia Pacific Rally Championship and the Australian Rally Championship and fires into life in Launceston, Tasmania on June 21 for 3 days of high speed racing on closed forest roads.
In 2018 after a long break from the sport the team finished 6th outright on Heat 1 and 7th outright on Heat 2 – picking up also a few trophies for the Tasmanian Rally Series along the way.
The crew will be driving a 2010 Subaru STi that was originally Mark’s family car.“I purchased this car in 2010 brand new from Subaru and we used it as an every day car for its first 100,000kms. It was even the car that I used to bring my twins home from hospital after they were born. A few years ago we started its transformation into a PRC rally car – with the addition of safety equipment, suspension and a few other bits however it still remains mostly standard. It is a lot of fun taking a standard car and driving it as hard as we can to see what it can do!” said Butcher.
The team are once again supported by Performance Driving Australia (www.performancedrivingaustralia.com) who deliver driver training programs to corporate groups Australia wide. The team are also representing Tasmanian Supercar Experience and will have the Lamborghini Gallardo on display during the event.
“Driving is our passion and we not only train people but share the motorsport passion with our track days and supercar experiences. We can’t wait to put on a show this year for all the locals and we will be doing our best to try and beat a few of the awesome cars that are coming down from all over Australia to compete” said Butcher.
