Driver Training on Gravel Roads

Driver Training on Gravel Roads (Calder Park – Melbourne)

The gravel defensive driving program is closely aligned with our standard Defensive Driving Program. All practical components are delivered on gravel / loose surface road. This allows drivers to experience the lower grip levels and how they effect vehicle performance in a range of scenarios.

Suitable for drivers operating in regional areas with frequent travel on unsealed roads. The course focuses on the general handling, emergency braking and car control skills on these road surfaces.

The gravel driving program can include an extensive theory session covering a wide range of road safety topics. Theory on gravel driving and vehicle dynamics on loose surface roads is included in this session before drivers head outdoors for the practical driving.

Tyre changing is included with all programs.

Drivers can also achieve a nationally recognised qualification to be issued at the completion of the course.

The available units include –

  • RIIVEH201D – Operate Light Vehicle

If drivers complete the 4WD Training package along with this gravel driving course they will also qualify for –

  • RIIVEH305E – Operate and Maintain a Four Wheel Drive Vehicle
  • PMASUP236 – Operate Vehicles in the Field

All passenger vehicles in Australia delivered after November 2013 are fitted standard with ABS and ESP systems. Understanding how these work on gravel roads is essential to safe driving.
